In the grand scheme of things, there aren't really many Riverstone dogs out in the wider world, but those that are out there and are being shown have already accumulated a list of achievements that make me extremely proud.
Those that went into family homes couldn't have asked for better owners and have lived up to everyone's idea of the "true Golden Retriever", by all accounts they have been easy to train, are wonderful with children and if needs must, a cat can be classified as a "best friend".
Now what breeder could ask for anything better than that?
I've highlighted some show results below - this doesn't mean I'm any less proud of the Riverstone kids that are loved family members, but I am so proud that Mieka has not only proved herself as a great showman but also an outstanding brood bitch with her kids doing well :o)
Aust CH Riverstone In Your Dreams At Waldwiese
Bree lives with a kennel full of high achieving Weimaraners in Adelaide so has a lot to live up to. This lovely young lady was sitting on 104 points at 11 months old (100 needed to gain the title of Champion) - unfortunately under the Australian system she then needed to obtain another 25 points after turning 12 months old. At 2.20am on New Years Day the call came in saying that at 12 months 3 weeks old (just about to the hour) Miss Bree gained her titled - don't I sound like an extremely proud breeder!!!! I won't break the magic by telling you all the naughty things she does, lets just say she loves Subway and leave it at that :o)
Well the next generation is out there over in Adelaide and now Bree has a son and daughter struting their stuff in the show ring!!!
Riverstone Hot Todde
Todde lives with Roger and Ngaire, this lovely boy is his mother's son. He has Mieka's lovey head and beautiful melting expression. He is already a speciality age group in-show winner and an all breeds age group in group winner. Ngaire takes him to obedience where he tries his best, and Roger is hoping he can start him field trialling. Just to show beauty can definately have brains :o) Now only two challenges off his Champion Title :o)
Rivertsone Gaelic Charmer
Jamie lives with, and is loved, by Debbie in Nelson. Little did Debbie know that when she picked up Jamie that she would venture into the show ring. At the Southern Golden Retriever Clubs Championship show Jamie was awarded 2nd in a very strong Puppy Dog class and received a wonderful critique, and Debbie is now hooked :o) Jamie is also doing obedience, he seems to have missed that naughty gene :o) Now halfway to his Champion Title :o)
Riverstone Shambhala Miley
Miley lives with Christine in Gore - she was the darkest puppy out of the AJ/Mieka litter and Christine had been waiting for her wee dark girl for a long time. Miley just loves swimming and retrieving her ball, and little birds for Christine.
Riverstone Golden Boy
Hudson is our poster boy, following in his father's footsteps. Hudson lives with Dave and Robyne, like Ava, Luka and Bree, Hudson has the "escape artist" gene - I keep telling people it's call "Personality"
CH Riverstone Bewitched at Winterlea
Jenna lives at Winterlea Golden Retrievers and is the first Riverstone dog to obtain the the title of "Champion". Along with her title, Jenna's other achievements have been Baby Puppy in Show at the Southern Golden Retriever Club Championship Show 2005 and a Junior in Show at the Otago Gundog Show in 2007. Jenna now lives over in Brisbane at the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association Queensland - following in her Grandfather Minty's shoes and producing puppies to be trained as guide dogs.
BISS & RBISS Riverstone I'm A Thrill Seeker At Arangold
2010 Bronson takes out Best in Show at the Southern Golden Retriever Club - one very very proud breeder with tears in her eyes :o)
Bronson lives at Arangold Golden Retrievers and has matured into a lovely boy. But he will always be that little puppy that like to sleep with his head resting on the water bowl dangling his ear in the water.
Bronson won Baby Puppy in Show in 2005, Junior in Show and Reserve Best in Show in 2006, and Intermediate in Show in 2007, all at Southern Golden Retriever Club Championship shows .
Riverstone Exquisite Ruby
Ruby was our "little puppy", but by the time she went to live with Jason and his family you would never have guessed it. She very nearly stayed here at Riverstone as I thought she was beautiful, she is a lovely pale girl that held her own when I talked Jason into putting her in the show ring on the odd occasion. Ruby and her family now live in Brisbane, where Ruby had a very radical hair cut to ensure she could cope with the heat :o)
